Breakfast Casserole

This easy Breakfast Casserole recipe is made with eggs, sausage, and cheese and only takes a few minutes to put together. It’s the best make ahead breakfast casserole and it’s the perfect breakfast casserole for Christmas morning or any day!

I’ve made other breakfast casseroles in the past but this has always been my go-to recipe and it truly is the BEST! Family and Friends are always raving about it and quiet honestly I love to make it all year round!

How to make easy breakfast casserole:

The main ingredients for this egg casserole are really simple and include: eggs, sausage, bread and cheese and heavy cream. It’s such a wonderful base to any additional toppings such as bell pepper and onions. You can add any toppings that you love!

To make the casserole combine the eggs, cream, water, mustard, salt and pepper in a large bowl and whisk and set aside.

Next, cook the sausage, breaking it into small bits as it’s browning. Set aside and then sautéed the bell peppers and onions in the same pan if you’re choosing to add them in.

Place half of the cubed bread in the prepared baking dish. Add half of the cooked sausage on top, followed by half of the shredded cheese. Repeat with the remaining bread, sausage and cheese. If desired, sprinkle diced bell peppers or onions over the top for added flavor. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers in the baking dish, ensuring that all the bread is coated. Gently press down on the bread to help absorb the liquid. Cover the casserole with foil and let it refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours. This allows the bread to absorb the egg mixture.   • 8 slices Bread, cubed I like sourdough but it’s entirely up to you
  • 1 lb ground breakfast sausage I use Jimmy Dean regular
  • 1.5 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 6 Large Eggs
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper

  • 1. Preheat your oven to 350℉(175℃)
  • 2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish
  • 3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and cooked through. Remove any excess grease.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, water, mustard, salt and black pepper.
